On Sunday 23rd June we are celebrating International Women in Engineering Day. We celebrated the achievements of the female technicians at MCFT and women engineers throughout the world.
The day is aimed at raising the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the amazing career opportunities available to women in this exciting industry.
David Meacock - MCFT Group Director of Engineering commented:
"Today, we proudly join the global community in celebrating International Women in Engineering Day! At MCFT we recognize the significant gender imbalance in our industry and are committed to making a change. As a global leader in kitchen equipment maintenance, we believe in the power of diversity and the strength it brings to our teams. The industry is facing a shortage of service engineers and we see a tremendous opportunity to attract more women to join us.
In 2021, only 16.5% of engineers in the UK were women, and in the maintenance industry, this percentage is significantly lower. In the USA, only 3.5% of all industrial maintenance technicians are women (Zippia.com). We're proud to have achieved success with our in-house training academy, with a 11% female intake in the last 5 months. However, we acknowledge that we still have a long way to go. That's why we actively recruit and train talented women through our training academy. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for women to excel in engineering and maintenance roles.
Join us in celebrating the incredible women engineers who are breaking barriers and making a difference every day. Let's continue to inspire and support the next generation of women in engineering!"
