About Our Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships blend real work with training and study for a specific role. You’ll acquire new skills, gain experience, and earn a salary simultaneously. Choosing to be an apprentice can be an exciting and rewarding career path.

At MCFT our apprentices will join a 24 month programme and will start their first 3 months at the Training Academy, where they will get a full introduction to industry, health and safety fundamentals, electrical safe isolation training, and gain the basics of the technical knowledge needed in relation to their job role. Following their 3 months, they go out into the field with a coach to continue their learning on the job, and visit the academy for 1 week every few months for further training. After 24 months, they will enter into “gateway” which is the preparation period for end point assessments.

Advantages of an apprenticeship with MCFT

Earn While You Learn

As an apprentice, you’ll receive a salary while gaining work experience. You’ll learn on the job and apply your new skills in a real work environment.

Nationally Recognised Training

The training you receive is recognised and valued by employers throughout England and the UK.

No Student Debt

Apprentices don’t pay tuition fees and aren’t eligible for student loans, so there’s no student debt to worry about. You’re still entitled to student discounts and can get a TOTUM card.

Open to Everyone: Apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers; they’re available to everyone.

Eligibility Requirements: To apply for an apprenticeship, you must be:

  • 16 or older
  • Not in full-time education
  • Living in England

Off the Job Hours

Off-The-Job training must make up at least 20% of the apprentices normal working hours (normal working hours are capped at 30 hours a week for funding purposes only.) For a full time apprentice, this is an average of 6 hours per week over the planned duration of the apprenticeship.

What counts as off-the-job training?

  • Training directly relevant to the apprenticeship standard
  • Training that teaches NEW knowledge, skills and behaviours
  • Training taking place within the apprentices normal working hours

Time spent on initial assessment and onboarding, English & Maths, training not required by the apprenticeship standard, progress reviews, examinations and other testing, and training which takes place outside the apprentices normal working hours does not count towards off-the-job training.
